Miktek , LLC debuted at AES 2009 with an innovative line of precision condenser microphones. Revisiting classic microphone designs and technologies, founder Michael Ketchell — in partnership with legendary engineers — unveiled the first offerings of a line of new condenser microphones designed for advanced and professional recordists.
Not all new companies arrive with considerable fanfare, but Miktek did; garnering a Pro Audio Review Excellence Award for the CV4 large-diaphragm multi-pattern tube condenser microphone.
Premiering products also included the C5 pencil condenser as a single or matched-pair, and C7 dual large-diaphragm FET condenser.
Miktek microphone components are sourced from top manufacturers in the US, Europe and Asia and hand-assembled at their factory in Nashville, TN. Final testing, certification and approval is conducted under the watchful ear of Ketchell and a team of some of Nashville's best engineers and technicians. As part of the development processes, Miktek products are tested and approved by members of Nashville's considerable community of recording engineers and producers.
Each Miktek microphone capsule features ultra-thin Mylar diaphragms with evaporated gold, and is manufactured to tight tolerances for unparalleled quality. Precise machining of the backplates, along with careful consideration of internal acoustic properties, assures pristine audio performance.
Electronics for each microphone are designed around AMI transformers and hand-selected transistors; matched with head-amplifiers of impeccable electronic performance. Unique innovations such as the C7's variable capsule bias voltage — along with variable pattern selection, high-pass filters and pad switches, make Miktek microphones indispensable creative tools for many applications. Each model features gold-plated XLR pins, robust and flexible shock-mounting hardware, wood presentation cases and rugged aluminum carrying cases.
