Plug-ins : Longcat Updates H3D Binaural To 2.1.1 - pcmusicLongcat Audio Technologies has announced today the availability of H3D 2.1.1, an upgrade to their 3D binaural plugin.
The 2.1.1 update brings improved frontal localization, and now supports non-occidental Mac OS X installations, such as Japanese ones.
This update is free to current H3D 2.0 customers. H3D v1.x users can upgrade to v2 at little or no cost.
H3D is compatible with AAX-Native, RTAS, AU and VST hosts on Mac OS X and Windows, and costs 99€ or $110. An evaluation version is also freely downloadable on Longcat Audio's website.

OS X Lion is now fully supported for Nucleus, with a revised Java based Console Browser. The Nucleus soundcard now also supports 64-bit for Mac users.

Virtual Instrument : Pianoteq Tubular Bells - pcmusicTubular Bells is an instrument made of brass tubes of graded length that are tuned to a chromatic scale and usually covers the range of 1½ octave.

The sound is produced by striking the top edge of the tubes with a plastic-headed hammer. The instrument often includes an attached damping mechanism. It appeared for the first time in England in the late 19th Century, and is ever since part of major symphonic orchestras, known as symphonic chimes.
