In the 1980s, Fairlight Instruments turned the music industry on its head by developing the first commercial instrument based on sound sampling. That company was wound up at the end of the eighties.n 2009, Peter Vogel, one of the founders of the original Fairlight, re-established Fairlight Instruments with the objective of developing musical instruments utilising the latest audio technology developed over the last decade by Fairlight.au.

Version 1.1 adds MIDI control capabilities by using the Apple Core MIDI features found in iOS 4.2, via the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. Users can now play the MS-20 Synth and tweak the onscreen knobs(The parameters are controlled by MIDI control change data. The MIDI control change numbers of iMS-20 are fixed) using external MIDI devices(Some USB bus-powered MIDI devices need a USB hub with power supply).

Users who also own an MS-20 Controller (bundled with the original Korg Legacy Collection software) can use it for patching cables. The six-part Drum Machine can receive different MIDI notes per part.

Ministry Of Rock 2 was put together with one goal in mind: to create a virtual (software) instrument capable of producing sounds that could actually produce a hit record or film score without any live drum, bass, or guitar overdubs. The articulations and programming were all reverse engineered from actual performances. The 57 gigabyte collection features LIVE technology which makes multi-sampled drums sound like a live performance.
