Ableton unveils Live 8 and Suite 8 which enhance their vision of creative, real-time digital music with a wealth of new techniques, effects and most-wanted workflow improvements.

New in Ableton Live 8 :
• New groove engine: new groove library, extract grooves from audio or MIDI, real time groove quantize
• New warping engine: warp audio events by adjusting the events on the timeline, updated Beats Warp Mode, new Complex Warp Mode, slice audio files to MIDI tracks based on transients
• Looper: classic sound-on-sound looping without the limitations of a hardware device. Record, overdub, undo and more without touching the computer. "First loop sync," simple loop management

Arturia has also announced that Brass, their award-winning software recreation of three wind instruments - a trumpet, a saxophone and a trombone –, is now coming in version 2. All the characteristics of the real instruments have been analysed and modelled by Ircam
Paris through mathematical algorithms, to offer extreme realism and expressivity.

In version 2.0, Brass offers an entirely redesigned interface with major new features and improvements :

- New physical modelling of the saxophone

Arturia, the company behind such products as the Jupiter-8V or the Origin, announced the release of the Minimoog V 2.0.

SPL expands its "Analog Code" plug-in line with the release of TwinTube. All Analog Code plug-ins are modeled after analog hardware processors, and in this case the TwinTube processor of SPL's RackPack modular system has been the paragon.

Employing two separate, independent tube stages, the TwinTube combines the two main tube artifacts: harmonics and saturation effects. TwinTube's harmonic processing can be applied to four different fundamental tone frequency bands to improve presence and clarity without raising signal levels significantly. The saturation control can be compared to the sound effects of tape saturation to add warmth and achieve more density with virtually any kind of sound source.

"Our programmers did a great job in creating a very good sounding tube simulation", says SPL's CEO Hermann Gier. "The special qualities of the analog TwinTube are in enhancing in fact nearly any signal with the classic analog sound attributes. Now we can fully transfer those amazing results to the digital domain. And where could the warm, transparent and smooth sound of analog tube and coil filtering make more sense than in DAW productions?"

The TwinTube is available as native and TDM version. The native version supports RTAS, VST and AU formats, the TDM license also includes all native formats.

Winter NAMM 2009 sees the launch of Focusrite's latest addition to its Saffire range and, for the first time, the integration of Liquid pre-amp technology with Saffire Pro audio interfacing.

Liquid Saffire 56 is Focusrite's new flagship 2U multi-channel firewire audio interface.
Two of Liquid Saffire 56's eight pre-amps utilise the third generation of Focusrite's Liquid Pre-amp, each providing a choice of ten different pre-amp emulations. These include emulations based on the Neve 1073, Pultec MB-1, Telefunken V72 and seven more. A harmonics dial on each Liquid pre-amp allows the user to compensate for variance in vintage originals of the same model, or to creatively add levels of 2nd, 3rd and 5th Harmonic distortion to shape the pre-amps performance.

Each channel features independent phantom power and a high pass filter, switchable from the front panel, with the two instrument channels also featuring -9dB pads for additional headroom. Front panel 5-LED metering for all inputs, including ADAT and S/PDIF, offers accurate viewing of all levels. Liquid Saffire 56 also comes bundled with the Focusrite plug-in suite.
