Antares Audio Technologies has announced that Auto-Tune EFX - Real-Time Auto-Tune Vocal Effect and Pitch Correction Plug-in will now be available at authorized Antares dealers around the world.

Initially introduced in a limited rollout in November 2008, Auto-Tune EFX is an affordable and easy-to-use tool for real-time pitch correction and for creating the Auto-Tune Vocal Effect (i.e., the T-Pain/ Cher-style effect). Powered by the same Evo Voice Processing Technology as Antares' Auto-Tune Evo, Auto-Tune EFX makes Antares-quality pitch processing accessible to anyone engaged in computer-based audio recording.

Auto-Tune EFX is available for RTAS (Mac OS X and PC), VST (Mac OS X and PC) and Audio Units (Mac OS X) at a U.S. MSRP of $129.00. All Macintosh versions are universal binaries.

Waves has just released a new plug-in called Center.

Ideal for final mixes and mastering, Waves Center is an innovative new processor that separates phantom Center content from Side (L/R) content. With Center, you can zero in on the phantom center and bring out or bring down the vocals without affecting everything else. Using a unique dynamic engine which considers the amplitude, frequency, and time envelope of stereo sources, Center gives you the power to radically re-balance your spatial imagery. Adjustable punch, high frequency, and low frequency controls let you enhance detail with maximum impact.

Controls :

- High controls balance of high frequency content between the Center and Sides. 0 - 100 (0=Center)
- Low controls balance of low frequency content between the Center and Sides. 0 - 100 (0=Center)
- Punch controls the spread of transient content between the Center and Sides. 0 - 100 (0=Center)
- Center controls the Center gain. +6dB to Off
- Sides controls the Sides gain +6dB to Off

Waves Center is available now for both Mac and PC in VST, AU and RTAS formats for a fee of $400 and in TDM formats for $800.

The famous Jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard has died last monday in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Hubbard, who had suffered a heart attack on Nov. 26, was 70.

Born in Indianapolis, He was known primarily for playing in the bebop, hard bop and post bop styles from the early 60s and on. His unmistakable and influential tone contributed to new perspectives for modern jazz and bebop. During his career he has played with legends such as John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, McCoy Tyner, Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.
