Consider the Spectrum Synth either a poor man's Nord Lead or a digital Oberheim Matrix. It's an affordable simulation of an analogue synthezizer module that uses Sampled waveforms and digital envelopes and filters to create close approximations of analogue sounds.
if you want a rock solid keybaord that has great sounds, buy a unit like this. Although, the acoustical instruments are sometimes lacking (Such as the piano) this unit has a TON of positives. Its sounds are crisp and warm.
The dpm offers 3 independent envelopes and a low pass filter for each patch you create. The combo idea allows you to combine up to 4 patches in one. each one could have its own midi channel if necessary.
The Peavey SP is the playback portion of the SP/SX combo. It can't sample itself but can read them in via SDS so if you have a computer and a soundcard, it's a cheap way to go....
